New Minister of Health Anatoly Dernovoy, having visited about fifteen medical-prophylactic establishments in South-Kazakhstan oblast, remained extremely dissatisfied with the condition of hospitals and service in them.
"Surprising disgrace. Surprising indifference and irresponsibility," general conclusion of the Minister.
According to A. Dernovoy, as for public health services in Turkestan, it is difficult to guarantee safety of patients, not even speaking about rendering qualified medical aid." In children's hospital and in the maternity home there are no equipped chambers of intensive and reanimation therapies. " Patients are practically doomed to death. There are no medicines, there is no equipment," the Minister said.
"The reasons causing epidemics have remained. The facts of roughest infringement of sanitary-disinfection norms, non-observance of the hospital regime, absence of control over sterilization and the use of medical toolkit are continuing. All this can lead to repeated HIV-infection," the Minister concluded.
The verdict of HIV mass infection of the children of the South Kazakhstan oblast will be made public on July 11, 2007.
