Kazakhstan ratified convention on standards of democratic elections in CIS countries

The President signed the law On ratification of convention on standards of democratic elections, suffrage and freedom in the CIS member states," the president's press service informed on Thursday.

As it was informed earlier, the expediency of joining the convention is dictated by non-existence of the uniform international legal document containing basic standards of the organization of democratic elections, guarantees of suffrage and freedom of citizens, participation of political parties in elections, and information coverage of elections and its international observance.

The convention was signed on October 7, 2002 in Kishinev.
