Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev called on the members of the Nur Otan Party to fight corruption more vigorously. “The regional branches of the party must initiate special anticorruption programs. Ad hoc committees organized by the regional and town branches of the party, which must include well known public figures, will have to deal with complaints about bribery and embezzlement of state property,” the president told a Thursday meeting of the political council in Astana. “The party should demand that dishonest officials be dismissed from office and punished, which we have never done before,” he added.
According to Nazarbaev, some officials are doing very well by combining their official duties and their own business. The party needs to develop a program called “Ten Smashing Blows Against Corruption,” the president said.
As is known, the Nur Otan Party lead by Nazarbaev is the largest political party in Kazakhstan. There are ten political parties in Kazakhstan.
