CORRUPTION AND ILLEGAL MIGRATION

Periodofimplementation: 2005-2006
Goal:

Independent assessment of the anti-corruption work by state institutions and their officers in the field of migration policy; local self-governance bodies and public and Mass Media participation in the control over the authority’s activity on all levels in the sphere of migration.

Find out, how to reduce the level of corruption essentially in the sphere of migration? What steps should be done first in national legislation sphere, international cooperation, improvement of local self-governance sphere and in the sphere of public oversight?

Objectsoftheproject:

The poll of 100 experts, including those who render legal assistance and of course political scientists, state officials, representatives of NGO, journalists.

The poll of 1000 oralmans [people who moved to Kazakhstan because of historical reasons] and labour migrants.

Analysis of legislation and law application practice

Development of recommendations and introduce the results of the project to corresponding state institutions.

Project results:

The poll of experts and labour migrants had been carried out. The Analysis of the legislation and law application practice had been conducted on the ground of experience of the International Organisation for Migration and its partners which render legal assistance to migrants.

On the base of the research TK developed recommendations on improvement of the situation in migration sphere of policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and introduced them to state institutes and society.
