ASSESSMENT OF TRANSPARENCY OF THE DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN COMPANIES’ ACTIVITY AND THEIR ATTITUDE TO THE PROBLEM OF CORRUPTION IN OIL-AND-GAS  SECTOR OF KAZAKHSTANI ECONOMY.

The present survey was carried out within the framework of campaign "Publish What You Pay", initiated by known international philanthropist George Soros. For today this campaign is supported by 110 international organizations, including "Transparency International".

During carrying out of the present survey questionnaires with the corresponding questions have been sent to heads of 76 Kazakhstan and foreign companies working in oil-and-gas sector of Republic of Kazakhstan. However answers have arrived only from 15 companies.

Also have been interviewed 60 respondents, representatives of the various fields of activity, including deputies of parliament, civil servants, NGOs, mass media, research and analytical institutes, independent experts.

Assessment of transparency of the domestic and foreign companies’ activity and their attitude to the problem of corruption in oil-and-gas sector of Kazakhstani economy

 

Transparency Kazakhstan Public Fund, Almaty Association of Entrepreneurs and Center for International Individual entrepreneurship with the assistance of the US Agency on International Development (USAID) have conducted in September-October 2002 an expert polling for the purposes of obtaining a maximum objective state estimate of the corruption condition in the field of activity of individual entrepreneurship in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
